PECA's Test Point Patch
Panel (Unit 8) is a subsection of PECA's Transmission Medium Impairment
Simulator (TMIS) systems.
The TMIS Test Point Patch
Panel is a manual means to monitor critical points throughout the TMIS
test system. There are two types of test points:
|
Direct
|
Direct Test
Points, designated as TPD-*, are connected by selecting
an RF switch so the signal at that point in the system is
directly available to be connected to a measurement instrument
such as a spectrum analyzer, power meter, frequency counter,
etc.
Direct Test
Points, by nature, interrupt the signal flow. Whenever
a direct test point is selected, its corresponding red LED
indicator will flash.

To select a Direct Test Point,
push the desired button in the column of interlocking push
buttons located on the left side of the Test Point
Patch Panel. Observe the flashing "Red' indicator.
To dis-engage a Direct Test
Point, slightly depress a non-engaged button.

|
Coupled
|
Coupled Test Points,
designed as TP-* are connected through a 20dB Directional
Coupler. |
PECA's Test Point Patch
Panel is configured for 50 and 75 ohm points throughout the system.
All connectors on the Test Point Patch Panel are BNC type of their
respective impedance level. There are (4) Direct Test Point
ports and a combination of (26) 75 and 50 ohm coupled test points,
with plenty available for expansion.
PECA's Test Point Patch
Panel also contains a convenient DC Power port on its right side.
This port, with the supplied DC power breakout cable, allows for
easy connectivity to +5VDC, +12VDC, +15VDC and +24VDC and Ground
(TMIS standard voltage levels) with alligator clips at each of
their ends.
