Transmission Medium Impairment Simulator

TMIS Advantages

  • Designed and constructed to meet user's requirements.
  • Configured for both Forward and Return transmission and testing.
  • Have two control modes. Manual from the front panel controls or Computer control via GPIB for the control on instrumentation and RS-485 via PECA control modules for level control and routing.
  • Can be equipped with a customized Display Panel.
  • An automation package is available. Control and Routing hardware is packaged in drawer assemblies which contain Front Panel Selection and Level Control Boards, Attenuators, RF Switches, Directional Couplers, Combiners, Splitters and I/O Control boards.
  • When configured with a full complement of test elements, PECA's TMIS are packaged in 6 or 7 standard 19' equipment racks.
  • Can be configured to meet clients particular test requirements and budgets. Often TMIS systems are implemented in phases where the first phase contains a selected set of elements housed in 2 standard 19" equipment rack.

PECA's TMIS systems are full Turnkey projects. User could provide the required instrumentation either from their available inventory or purchase new instrumentation and arrange it to be drop shipped to PECA's facilities or PECA could purchase instruments for integration into PECA's TMIS. "At PECA Acceptance Tests" are performed prior to shipment to user's site.

Additive Impairments

PECA's TMIS typically provide calibrated levels of these additive impairments:

  • Additive White Gaussian Noise AWG
  • CW carrier interference
  • Burst Noise interference
  • Composite Triple Beat (CTB)
  • Composite Second Order (CSO)
  • Common Path Distortions
  • Up to 3 different Expansion Impairments (In some cases only 2 Expansion Impairments)

In-Line Impairments

PECA's TMIS typically provide calibrated levels of these In-Line Impairments:

  • Phase Noise
  • AM Hum Modulation
  • Microreflections
PECA's standard microreflection drawer provides eight Microreflections:

20, 40, 80, 150, 300, 600, 1250, 2500 and 5000 nanoseconds

  • Static and Dynamic Multipath

Additionally, customized Dynamic Ghost (Multipath) Simulation can be provided.

Both Forward and Return Additive Impairments can be introduced singly or in any combination.
