PECA's SmartPlug Modules are an easy means to provide addressable control to various devices requiring shifting of TLL levels.

PECA's SmartPlugs are sets of general purpose, microcontroller controlled Input/Output devices that are housed in standard 25 pin "D" connector housings.

Each SmartPlug has two RJ-12 jacks so that multiple SmartPlugs can be daisy chained together. Up to 128 Smartplugs can be linked on a single RS-485 line. Smartplug communication is over a single serial data comm link to the host (e.g. a PC) via RS-232 to RS-485 converter. Baud rates of 9600 and 19200 are available.

Each Smartplug can be addressed via a stored address or 5 bits of external address via appropriate connections to the 25 pin "D" connector or a combination of stored and external addressing.

Power is typically obtained from the equipment is it connected to via the specified pin on the 25 pin "D" connector.
